What is HOMA-IR?
HOMA-IR (Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance) is a method used to estimate insulin resistance, which is a condition where the body’s cells become less responsive to the hormone insulin. HOMA-IR is calculated using the fasting glucose and fasting insulin levels from a blood sample. The formula for HOMA-IR is:
HOMA-IR = (Fasting Insulin (μIU/ml) × Fasting Glucose (mg/dl)) / 405

- Fair: 1.5-1.99
